Chris grew up in the financial services industry in a small town in central Wisconsin where his father was a principal in a consumer loan company. Chris’ passion for the industry thus started at an early age.
After spending 18 years as an executive and senior portfolio manager in a commercial finance company, Chris joined the “Thundering Herd” (Merrill Lynch) to take his tools and experience to the retail investment client. After approximately 5 years, it was apparent to him that he needed to have the independence of selecting his own investments (without a firm’s controls), so he and the team moved to UBS Financial Services.
After approximately 6 years at UBS, Chris felt that Wall Street was going to make the same mistakes as it had in the past. With that point in mind, he left Wall Street in 2012 to start his own investment firm, founded upon the fundamentals he has learned over his lifetime.
Fontis Investments was created on the belief that individuals, families and institutions would benefit from a completely independent group, focused only on providing financial peace of mind. The investment principles remain unchanged; transparent, liquid and connected.
